The Rocca Sisters take part in Pink Shirt Day
March 8, 2018 | Posted by The Rocca Sisters & AssociatesOne of the most important parts of our mission here at The Rocca Sisters Team is social responsibility. We acknowledge that the greater our success the greater our ability to make positive change in our world. We also focus on giving back to our community by enthusiastically participating in community based awareness and fundraising activities that result in a significant contribution to the overall quality of life of our friends, neighbours and colleagues.
Bullying is a major problem in our schools, workplaces, homes, and online. Over the month of February, and throughout the year, CKNW Kids’ Fund’s Pink Shirt Day aims to raise awareness of these issues, as well as raise funds to support programs that foster children’s healthy self-esteem.
With four small children in the beginning years of their schooling, Cathy and Tanya Rocca realize the value of raising awareness of these issues and hold them close to their hearts.
“All kids are entitled to happy childhood and we need to teach kids from a young age that we are all created equal.” says Tanya Rocca.
This year, The Rocca Sisters team showed our support by dressing our entire office in pink!
As the Pink Shirt Day movement grows each year, we not only see more and more people practicing kindness – both online and off. The organization is pleased to use the funds raised through official merchandise sales and donations to help hundreds of kids affected by bullying. Since 2008, net proceeds of over $1.8 million have been distributed to support youth anti-bullying programs in British Columbia and throughout Western Canada. In 2017 alone, they were able to support programs that impacted more than 59,300 youth and children.(www.pinkshirtday.ca)
We want to say a big thank you to everyone in our community who along with The Rocca Sisters Team took part supporting Pink Shirt Day and raising awareness!
