How to Achieve Feng Shui In Your Home
January 29, 2019 | Posted by The Rocca Sisters & AssociatesHappy Chinese New Year from the Rocca Sisters Team! The Chinese New Year, or Spring Festival, has more than 4,000 years of history and is the longest holiday of the year. In the 21st century, the national holiday begins on the first of the Lunar Calendar and lasts until the 15th of the first month. In 2019, Chinese New Year begins on February 5th and ends February 19th. With the Chinese New Year ahead of us, we at the Rocca Sisters Team are looking towards the ancient Chinese system of governing spatial relationships within a home, known as feng shui. The practice of Feng Shui is purported to aid the flow of energy in positive directions that will improve your finances, mood and generally your entire life. An organized home is also much more aesthetically pleasing, which will help those looking to sell their homes in this, the Year of the Pig.
Just as modern real estate has the concept of curb appeal, feng shui assigns a great deal of value to the front porch and front doorway of your home, as this is the way in which energy is invited into the home. Both concepts recommend the front porch to be clear and uncluttered to allow energy to flow easily, and to look as welcoming as possible. Likewise, the energy flow in spaces such as the living room works best when they are open, uncluttered and visually pleasing. Windows that bring a lot of light are naturally pleasing on a subconscious level to almost everyone, as they brighten up just about any space, but those who subscribe to the ancient practice of feng shui windows also contribute to the flow of positive energy, a must for any happy and prosperous home!
In bedrooms, symmetry is important both visually and in contributing to a positive home; a set of night stands positioned on each side of the bed creates a sense of symmetry and equality, believed to inject positivity into a couple’s relationship.
As we can see from the examples above, modern real estate has taken a great deal of inspiration from this ancient tradition. From all of us at the Rocca Sisters Team, we wish you and your families a happy and prosperous Year of the Pig!
