How the Rocca Sisters Give Back: Ovarian Cancer Walk of Hope and Applefest 2018

On Sunday, September 9, 2018, the Rocca Sisters were proud to participate in this year’s Ovarian Cancer Walk of Hope. The windy and cooler weather did not deter participants from coming out and showing their support for this wonderful cause. There were several speakers sharing survivor stories and stories of remembrance. Cathy and Tanya Rocca, who were the masters of ceremony, spoke movingly about their mother Joan, whom they lost to ovarian cancer in 2009. Members of the Rocca Sisters Team were on hand, giving out branded reflective zipper tags and other goodies, and even leading stretches before the start of the Walk! The event also included the lighting of the Burlington Pier in teal, the official colour of ovarian cancer awareness and support, as well as a Garden of Hope, where family members and survivors could leave messages of remembrance, inspiration and courage. The event was an empowering one, and we at the Rocca Sisters Team could not be prouder to have participated and helped to raise money for research, aid, and support for those living with ovarian cancer and their families. This year, approximately $80,000 was raised for this very worthy cause.
